The usual version starts in Blauherd station. Doing so will decrease the elevation from 610 meters to 310 meters only. But if you don’t mind the additional climbing, you can save some money by starting in Sunnegga.

The hike starts at the upper station of the Sunnegga funicular. We are first walking to Blauherd station. From there, we can reach our first photo spot at the Stellisee lake. If the wind is calm, you can see a perfect reflection of the Matterhorn on the lake. It is a very common photo spot.

After a short break, we will continue towards Fluhalp mountain restaurant. Then, we walk down towards the Grindjesee Lake. After a while, we are going to see the Grüensee Lake with its green water and a beautiful view over the Matterhorn. You could try to swim in this lake, if you don’t mind the cold water.

From there, we can reach Ze Seewjinen, a small hamlet with old wooden houses. After a few more kilometers, we will reach the turquoise Mossjesee Lake. The last stop of the hike is the Leisee lake. You can take an elevator back to Sunnegga or walk back to Sunnegga or Zermatt if you want to continue your day.
